German Breweries with guesthouse/hotel

Is there a book in english that identifies the many family breweries with lodging throughout Germany and Austria?

I don't doubt that there may be some brewers that have an attached Gasthaus, but in my experience, most smaller German breweries are about as charming as a sheet metal factory, and are usually located in an industrial area of town. I do recall that this small brewer in Seligenstadt (near Frankfurt) at least operates a restaurant, but I don't think they offer lodging: http://www.glaabsbraeu.de/ By coincidence, I'm headed to a book store right now. If I see anything like what you requested, I'll chime back in, although it will probably be in German.

You're out of luck. Go figure, in a German bookstore, I saw exactly one book on the subject of beer, and it was written by the late British beerhound Michael Jackson (not the late pop star...). The closest thing I saw that might fit your request was the Michelin Red Guide for Germany, which reviews restaurants. However, it lists recommendations by town, not by the type of restaurant.

Thank you, the only book I have is one i picked up in Germany the last time Gerne Gast in Privaten Braugasthofen und Hotels. This is an older one and was hoping there may be other books.

We are going to Quedlinburg this summer and they have the type of brewery/hotel you are looking for so there must be others. Too bad there isn't a guide book, maybe this is an overlooked beer tour marketing niche. The brauhaus/hotel in Quedlinburg is called Brauhaus Luedde, you can Google it.

I found more by doing a Google search for brauhaus+hotel and the word Deutschland. There is this one "Stadtbrauerei Arnstadt Brauhaushotel" and this one "Brauhaus-Hotel - Bad Arolsen " Good luck with your search.

I only know of one which is by the Ayinger brewery; the Brewery Hotel Aying. It's a beautiful hotel in the village of Aying, about 15 or so miles southeast of Munich. If you don't have a car you can get there on the S-bahn. Here's their website: http://www.brauereigasthof-aying.de/index.php
