Has anyone been to Gera in Thuringia and if so, any advice on reasonably priced accommodation near the theater or the station would be very helpful. This is for a young, single, female traveller.

Hello, Bridgett, I checked Gera's website under Tourismus and Unterkunft (Accommodations) and came up with nothing. However, when I went to hotel.de and searched for Gera hotels, plugging in "near central station" (there are two others in Gera), I came up with five hotels within 2 km of the central railway station and many more as far as 50 km distant. This website had pictures and particulars. I copied it but it didn't work. Try hotel.de and put in Gera, Germany. I had to do it twice before it worked. I also copied the email address of the tourist office in Gera and their phone number. I speak German and have Skype, so I could call or email for you if you don't speak the language. I've been to Gera briefly but it was quite a few years ago. By the way, I've used hotel.de before and the reservation worked out great, the response came from the hotel directly (in Munich.)
