Genoa & Cinque Terre/ MonteCarlo / Aix en Provence/ Annecy-Christmas Week

I am visiting my daughter who is living in Milan. From Dec 22 - 31 we are spending 2 days in each location. We have a car. Any suggestions on the "must sees"? Any restaurants that are good? Really want to see quaint villages...Thanks. All the best.

Hi Martha - Two extremely special things to do -
Le Cinque Terre is one my favorite places and Vernazza is my favorite village of the five and also has one particular restaurant we always have to visit - Al Castello - directly on the harbor - excellent food and awesome sights!!
From Monte Carlo - my second suggestion - you can be in Eze Village in about 35 minutes - take bus #112 from the station and be awestruck by the village, shops, and views!!
I'll leave it to other posters to suggest what you might consider doing in the other stops.

Have a Great Time, Greg

My fave is Riomaggiore. One of the smaller, low key villages. If you are a hiker/walker, do the hiking trail which connects all the villages together. Just spectacular!

From Aix, the loop Arles-Nimes-Pont du Gard-Orange-Avignon, makes a heck of a day trip to see the best of lowland Provence. You'll have to hustle to get it all done in a day, but it can be done. If you tend to dwadle along the way, do it backwards and skip Arles. The Saturday market in Aix is one of the best in the country. Most of the restaurants along Cours Mirabeau are uniformly underwhelming; try to pick one with locals vice tourists and you might be okay. Hotel Cardinale on street of same name is quaint and a bargain.
