I have to stop in Geneva and would like a recommendation for a one night stay near the train station. I have a very early TGV train on a Sunday morning. I'd like a reasonable price and proximity to the station. Thanks for your help!

I see that Rick doesn't cover Geneva in his Switzerland 2007; in that case you might try tripadvisor.com for reviews. Hotels in Switzerland overall are well-run but expensive.
We stayed in the Manotel Edelweiss in Geneva for 1 night before flying out the next morning. It's walkable to the train station, but you would probably rather take a taxi if you're carrying luggage.
I'm sure there are other hotels closer, but the Edelweiss was well located close to the lake, had free internet access, the nicest employees I've EVER met, the hotel is decorated in traditional Swiss Chalet style (although very touristy) and had MARVELOUS food. It was also clean and affordable so what more could you possibly want.
I think there is also a Holiday Inn Express close by that has a shuttle to the train station.
Personally the Edelweiss was a spectacular way to end our Swiss Vacation.
Accor hotels has several relativeley inexpensive hotels that might fit the bill. Their Ibis chain (good value, comfortable) has one less than half a mile from the train station, for about $115 a nite.
