I was reading that the Hostel Jules Ferry in Paris is a gay hostel...please tell me if this is true.

Reviews on TripAdvisor make it sound pretty bad. Reviews are also unclear on whether it is gay.

Jules Ferry is part of the Hosteling International (HI) chain. HI hostels are usually kind of bland/generic, offer very basic amenities, quiet and not especially geared towards a party crowd. As for whether that particular hostel is gay, I can't say for sure, but I seriously doubt it. At best, Hosteling International may deem it "gay friendly" by slapping up a rainbow sticker on the door.
If you are specifically looking for gay friendly accommodation, there are GLBT guides that list lodging options in all parts of Europe.

I am not looking for a gay hostel.I am looking for a basic hostel and the Jules Ferry sounds simple,clean,reasonably priced and in a good location w/o a lot of traffic.I just want to know if anyone who has stayed there or knows someone that has...can confirm this for me.Much appreciated if you can.
