I have sent 3 emails within the last month to Gasthof Simony requesting room vacancies for specific dates in August. I have never received a reply.Yesterday I called the bed and breakfast but the lady who answered the phone did not speak English. Has anyone else been experiencing similar problems? Are the dates I am requesting already booked so they don't respond? Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Let's see. You sent three emails? No answer. You called and the woman who answered spoke no English? Were the emails in English also? Does that suggest anything. (Perhaps their English speaking employees only work in the summer.) According to my notes, I sent emails (in German) to 9 places in Hallstatt, including Simony. Six sent back "Leiter". Two, including Simony never answered. Maybe they just don't bother to answer if they don't have anything. But when I was in Hallstatt, Simony had a "Zimmer frei" sign out. Maybe they just didn't want to rent an Einzelzimmer in advance in August.

Last year, I sent a reservation request by email (in ENGLISH) on 3/22/10 and received a reply the next day. My requested reservation was for mid-September. About a month prior to our reservation date, I had to request a date change due to my husband's illness. Again, I received a reply the next day. Frau Scheutz does have a young girl working there who does not speak English, so there is obviously someone else who takes care of the reservations. I recently made reservations online with Gasthof Simony and they wrote back in English. This was for time in June.

Thanks to everyone that replied to my post. I finally heard from the B & B today and hopefully I will be getting confirmation of my reservation soon.
