We are booked for the Germany-Austria-Switzerland tour this September. We are flying into Luxembourg City the day before the tour starts (after spending a few days in London). Since our flight lands in Luxembourg City at 6 pm, we thought we would spend the night there and head to Trier for the start of the tour the next morning. Looking for accomodations in Luxembourg City that are at least RS quality.

Mike, The only suggestion I can think of at the moment would be to check Trip Advisor. There are at least 50 Hotels listed, so hopefully you can find one that's "at least RS quality". I'd probably look for something close to the train station, as that will facilitate the journey to Trier the following morning. I'm sure you'll really enjoy the GAS Tour. Do you know yet who your Guide will be?

The hotel we are focusing on is the Carlton Hotel which is near the train station. It looks fine but we find that it always pays to get the advice of experienced travellers on the Helpline.
Haven't heard from RS on our guide yet but I'm sure we will get that info along with a listing of other folks on the tour in the next couple weeks.
