Garmisch-Partenkirchen for Christmas

Greetings!
My famliy of 8, which includes 3 married couples will be travelling in Germany Dec 15-30 & are looking for a villa or apartment, (hotel not ideal as we'd all like to have a homey feel) in the GAP area for xmas this year. Looking for a 4 or 5 night stay. We've looked at homeaway,Garmisch visitor site, holiday house/letting/4you/apartments, and globespan with no luck. We are open to Mittenwald, but do want to be 20 min walking distance from a pub or cafe. Any recommendations of accomodations, travel agents, etc are welcome. Thanks!

sounds like great fun.

There are lots of holiday apartments and rental chalets in Garmisch-Partenkirchen. The problem may be that chalets and apartments often require a full week's stay, especially during holiday season. You might test that theory by just running a search on the website www.gapa.de and see what comes up.

Weekly rentals often go Saturday to Saturday but I see that would require a move in or out on christmas Day, so it may be different for this year.

I checked several places with Ferienwohnungen and they all seem to require a full week.

You might try places that offer smaller apartments in a bed-and-breakfast context; they are less likely to require a full week stay. You'd have to take 2 apartments to fit all of you, but they would be in the same building, and you'd have a bit more privacy 9and 2 kitchens). Try Haus Aspen:

We stayed in the alpspitze apartment at Haus Reiter and it was a nice studio apartment. Again, you would have to take several to fit your whole group. This place is a bit out of town but we walked and it was a pleasant walk, partly along the river on a pedestrian path. they have Ferienwohnungen in town as well, so check out those.
