I just downloaded Europe maps for my Garmin GPS (took very long time!!) Is there any trick to 'unlocking' them and do I have to be in Europe to do this. Sorry if this is a dumb question but I am a fairly new user to my Garmin GPS especially in other countries :O)

Could you clarify your comments about "unlocking" the Maps. I've never had to "unlock" the Maps in my Garmin Nuvi (including the newer copies of the Europe maps that I downloaded last year) .
Did you set your GPS unit to "lock"? These can usually be unlocked by switching on at your home location or with a Password. Check the manual for details.

It's not a dumb question, Kat. On the Garmin website there is an FAQ section where you can get the answers to your questions. There have been issues with unlocking maps with certain models of Nuvis and there is information there on how to get around those issues.
