Gare Montparnasse

I read that it could take 10-15 minutes to the train track from Montparnasse.

Has anyone taken the train from Gare Monparnasse to Versailles-Chantiers? If so, can you tell me where the train track is and about how long it takes to walk from the time you enter the station? I plan on getting the Paris-Combo pass so I will have my ticket already.

Thank you.

I haven't taken that train, but this page on the Paris by Train site will help you with the track layout at Gare Montparnasse.

Thank you Tim - Been on that website and find it very informative but cannot figure out about how long of a walk it is to the Transilien tracks.

Steve - I am aware of the RER C to Rive-Gauche - For the morning ride, I prefer Montparnasse and only taking one train versus changing trains.
Have you taken the Transilien? If you have, about how long of a walk it is from street level to the track. I will have a pass already.

Thanks!

I've taken the train from Montparnasse to Chartres and don't remember the walk being much more than about 5 minutes. Certainly not as much as 15 minutes.

If you come in the main door you can be on any platform in the station in five minutes, three if you push it.

Thank you! Finally, the answer to my question!

From the photos on parisbytrain, this station seems to be similar(in size) to New York Penn, Grand Central,etc.....
