Does anyone know what a taxi would cost from Gare du Nord to central Paris Hotel? I have looked at some transfers online and they are quite expensive.
Because of the recent strike, I took a taxi from the Hotel Leveque to Gare du Nord at 6 am. The meter reading was 14.30 Eu. Sometimes taking a taxi is the only thing that makes sense.
Where is your hotel, it is impossible to help you otherwise.
Also , go on your hotel website, and look they almost always have directions to hotel by car,and Metro .
I do not find any central hotel in Paris to be too expensive to take a taxi too, I mean you just spent thousands on airfare and hotel, why not spend less then the 20 bucks to get to your hotel hassle free. Many hotels will be within 10 euros ( less then 20 bucks) ride of Gare Du Nord( as I said , we do need to know where you hotel is) .
We came into Gare du Nord on the Eurostar from London last March. The taxi is the best way to any hotel in central Paris, no more than $25 US and probably less. A bargain and no hassle with wrestling the luggage. Once you get the hang of the metro you can return to Gare du Nord that way.
You can always ask the cabbie, "C'est combien" (Phonetically--Say comb be in)and the name of your hotel. He will either point to the meter or reply in French or better yet, write it down for you.
Be sure and learn some French before you go. www.bbc.co.uk/languages pronounces the phrases for you so you can get along auite well anywhere in Paris.
Bon voyage!
