I searched RS helpline history but could not find an answer to this question. Wife and I and our granddaughter need to get from the Left Bank area in June to l'Est to catch a train for Koblenz, Germany. We would prefer using RER or Metro. We want to leave Paris around 0800 (have to wait until schedules are posted-92 days out) About how much would a taxi cost? Please help. Thanks, Dorsey
The Paris metro map is here. Looks like Gare de d'Austerlitz and Gare de l'Est are connected by the #5 line (I think that is Metro).
You can get schedules at www.ratp.fr.
Lee is correct. Metro line 5 goes directly between Gare d'Austerlitz and Gare de l'Est. It's a 13-minute ride and the fare is 1.60 EUR.
While new train timetables will be issued in June, the times are not likely to change by more than a few minutes--if at all. According to the timetables at www.bahn.de, the current departure times with the possibility of discount fares are 07:04 and 09:09, both with a connection in Saarbruecken. Book up to 92 days in advance on the DB site and you can get a Europa-Spezial Frankreich fare as low as 39 EUR.
You can also depart at 07:09 and connect in Luxembourg, but that would take an extra hour and there is no discount fare offered.
THANKS all, great information. Dorsey
