Hi there, I´m going next week to germany, to spend two weeks. The plan is to visit some cities of the romantic route of the castles, Munchen and than Berlim. The last city in the romantic route where I'm going to be is Fussen, and I was thinking in knowing this konigssee, that seems really beautiful.
The problem is I'll have to leave the car in Munchen in the same day I leave Fussen, so I would have to do all this tour in one day. Is it possible? If you could give me some tips about the best way to do it would be great. Thanks.
The way the rail lines in Bavaria radiate out from Munich, it is almost impossible to go from Fuessen to Berchtesgaden without passing through Munich. You can spend time in Munich returning the car, or return it in Munich before you go to Fuessen and save the time.
To pass through Munchen is not a problem. The problem is that the deal about the car is already done. The hotel's reservations are already done too, so I know I'll have to leave the car in Munchen in the same day I leave Fussen. I just thought about going to this lake and, after it, return to Munchen, but I don't know if there will be able time for it.
Thank you
So you want to go Fuessen to Munich, return the car, then Munich to Berchtesgaden, to Koenigssee and back, then return to Munich -all in one day. I wouldn't try it. However, there are trains leaving Berchtesgaden after dinner, getting into Munich after 9 PM. We spent an afternoon - most of the time between lunch and dinner - on Koenigssee, stopped a short time at St. Bartholomae, then went to the end of the lake at Salet, and came back to Schoenau. So, if you left Fuessen real early, and returned the car by about 9 AM, you should be able to do it. Or you could return the car later, take the train to Berchtesgaden and the bus down to Schoenau, look at the lake, and say "Koenigssee, check".
Hi Pedro, I think I get what you're saying: Drive from Fuessen to Konigssee, see the lake and then drive to Munich to return the car. It can be done, but just to see the Konigssee? I wouldn't bother. Figure 4 hours to drive from Fuessen to Konigssee, then about 2 hours to drive from Konigssee to Munich. 6 hours in the car just to see the Konigssee... again, I wouldn't bother. Just an opinion. Paul
Yes, that's the idea; drive from Fussen to the Konigssee and then, from konigssee to Munchen (all in the same day). I'll think about it.
Anyway, by wich route would you do to make this tour?
