Hey Gil,
We stayed twice (Oct. 2001 and Oct. 2003) at the Hotel zum Hechten in Fuessen.
We highly recommend it. Nice rooms, very good buffet breakfast, great location, free parking, etc. etc.

Drive on down the street for about 2 minutes and stay in Horn instead. Much more enjoyable area, more nice hotels/b&bs to choose from, look at this link for hotels: http://www.tripadvisor.com/Hotels-g198564-Schwangau_Bavaria-Hotels.html

I also stayed at the Hotel zum Hechten two years ago and was very happy with it.
