Hello!!! We are in a total quandry. We are stopping a tour in Zurich, but want to get out of Switzerland fast because it is so expensive. We don't know whether to go to Provence, France, or to Trentino & Piedmont, Italy.
Any suggestions?
Thank you !!!
Given the current horrible Euro/Dollar exchange rate is Switzerland "That" much more expensive than other places? Switzerland's dramatic landscape is second to none. I also think that Zurich would probably be much more expensive than some of the other smaller towns/villages dotted throughout Switzerland. The Chalet Fontana in tiny Muerren is a very cheap place with million dollar (Franc) views. Also if you buy food/snacks/wine at the supermarkets like Coop and Migros and produce stands the price is substantially cheaper than a restaurant.
Sorry, I don't have any suggestions for the other destinations you mentioned, but I do know that there are ways to cut costs in Switzerland.
I just travelled to Switzerland and France this past August and in my experience France is more expensive than Switzerland. Quite a bit more, in fact. I would imagine any euro country would be now. That's one of the reasons Swiss don't want to switch to euro, because the prices would skyrocket then, just as they did for all the other countries when they adopted euro. Maybe I am just used to the Swiss prices, and I love the franks, too. Such beautiful money.
