My girlfriend and I are looking for a few cool stops to break up our trip from Paris to Barcelona. We have about 3 or 4 days to kill before we need to be in Barcelona. Any suggestions?

I have to agree that Lyon is a good stop to make. You can use that as a base to do other great day trips in that area...
- 45 min drive to geneva, switzerland
- 2-3 hr. drive to Turin, Italy
- Lyon is in the Beaujolais wine region
- Lyon itself is a nice city in itself to walk/rent bikes

I'd do the following itinerary: Day1: Paris via Orleans to Lyon. Stay over at Lyon, it's a spectacular city which you will love! Day2: Lyon via Avigon, Pont du Gard to Montpelier or Sete. Sete's harbor is breathtaking and a perfect place for a romantic dinner.Day3: Do a sidetrip to Carcassonne. For the night stay somewhere near the Spanish border. Day 4: Drive down Costa Brava (coastal route, not the freeway) and arrive at Barcelona in the evening.
