Haven't they cancelled night trains on that rout after the LGV Atlantique opened? (I'm not sure, asking as well).

Check the TGV website to search for the date you are going. There does seem to be one night train, but the cheapest option costs about as much as going during the day on the much faster TGV.

jj can't imagine any night train being cheaper then just a regular advance buy on idTGV , they can be as cheap as 19-25 euros , we paid 40 euros for first class in the middle of last summer ( advance buy ).

If you were to take only daytime regional trains, you would need to change trains in Marseille and Lyon, the trip would take 13.5 hours, and the fare would be higher than taking a direct TGV because you would have to buy three tickets. The standard 2nd class fare for a direct TGV is €128.00. For travel in late February or early March you've waited too long to get the lowest discount fare for either a TGV or the night train. However, you may still be able to get a reduced fare if you book today. If you found a ticket for €43 on the date you wish to travel, book it now!!

There does still seem to be a night train on that route, leaving Nice at 19:55 and arriving in Paris nearly 12 hours later, with no changes. No idea here about costs even for the basic ticket, but bunks and beds are expensive. Still, you save on a hotel.
