We are traveling to Germany in September to run the Berlin marathon. Our arriving flight is in Munich (spending a few days there), then we are traveling to Berlin. Does anyone have suggestions on a little town inbetween the two? We would only be there for one day. Thanks!

I don't see most direct Munich to Nürnberg trains stopping in Wittenberg or Würzburg, but most seem to stop in Bamberg. Bamberg is closer to your desired "little town" and has interesting things to see.
