Need a suggestion for travel after Munich, before starting Italy. We want to head to Switzerland and have 2 full days. We are trying to avoid a 5 hour train ride. Thanks

Outside (and south) of Munich, you have Salzburg, Berchtesgaden, Hallstatt, Hall, Innsbruck, Füssen, Oberammergau, Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Mittenwald, and a whole lot more. I'm sure those places will more than fill 2 days. Switzerland is a long ways away. If you want to avoid that long travel time, stay local.

Or go to Austria instead of Switzerland. If you look at a map, you'll see Switzerland is a detour, hence the 5-hour trip.
