I'm visiting Berlin for 4 days in May and leaving Berlin on 16 May 8 days in Amsterdam. What's the easiest way for me to travel from Berlin to Amsterdam. Train? Air - maybe budget carriers? What's more convenient? Thanks anyone.
Booked far enough in advance (up to three months allowed) at www.bahn.de, you can get a Europa-Spezial fare of 29€ on a direct train. The trip takes 6 1/2 hours.
You can fly Transavia from Berlin Tegel to Amsterdam. The cheapest fare I found is 57€ (including taxes and fees).
For comfort and relaxation, I like trains. And they're "greener" than flying.
I did this route a couple of years ago. I decided to take the train because at the time there were only early morning flights to Amsterdam and I wanted an extra half day in Berlin. In terms of which is more efficient time wise, it's a toss up even with the hassles of getting to/from the airports and airport security, it takes about the same amount of time whether you use the train or plane.
