From Austria...Switzerland? France? Itenerary help needed!!

Greetings! We will have 2 1/2 to 3 weeks (me, my husband and 5 year old) beginning at the end of November. We plan to spend the first week of December in the Munich and Hallstatt area for some local events. However, the rest of the time...we are an open book. We have discussed Switzerland, the Lauterbrunnen Valley area. Also thrown out there are Slovenia, Northern Italy, and even places like Budapest and Prague (traveling to those places by train of course). We do rent our car in Munich, but after our stay near Hallstatt we are up for either train or car travel. So...Any thoughts? We do love the mountains, although we probably wouldn't have the time to ski and we love photography as well. We also enjoy the Christmas Markets that time of year. We have been to Vienna and Salzburg as well as Neuschwanstein and the Zugspitze during the same time of year, but missed a lot of small towns. We are more country than big city loving although we love the history and culture of the cities. We do like the "off the beaten path" treasures people find. Any thoughts or ideas would be welcome. We are open to flying into Munich and out of somewhere else...Venice, Zurich...where ever. Thanks in advance for the input!! --JR

Weather will probably be less than optimum but planning on museums and indoor activities would probably be easier to manage especially with a younger child. Getting to Paris is pretty easy. From there London is easy to connect with. Life is not "more country" but many indoor activities are available.
