On our recent trip to France in July, I did a bonehead thing and forgot my GPS (with European maps) in the car at the airport here in the states. Didn't realize it until we were on the plane. I had booked a rental through Avis and they didn't have any GPS units available so I pleaded with the car park (in Seattle) to fedex it to me, which they did and I reimbursed them $84 US for the overnight shipment. And it was worth every penny.
However, I've now been contacted by the car park and FedEx has billed them back another $114 for import taxes charged by France. They of course now want me to pay for it. These are items that I bought here, used there, and brought back with me. I have receipts to show my purchases and of course product to show it's still in my possession. Does anyone have any tips for getting the money back?
