French Riviera in One Day

I'm taking a cruise in October. One of our stops is Nice. Is it possible to do the following in a single day. We'll be in port 14.5 hours. Nice, VilleFranche-sur-Mer, Cap Ferrat, Eze-le-Village, Monaco, Nice Which would you cut if you had to?

Depends on your definition of "do." You could certainly see the train stations of each of those destinations. Maybe walk around the block. You could do a nice exploration of Nice in that time. You could visit Monaco for the day and see a little of some other village. You could walk all around Eze (and maybe catch a tiny bit of Nice). But you'll just run yourself ragged and end up seeing nothing if you try to see it all.

depends on when you dock you may get a bus up the hill and down in time, but if you visit the hill towns you won't have time to see the coast towns.

Hank, assuming you have not seen any of the area, I would spend most, if not all the time, in Nice. There is a lot to see. We have seen Eze and Monaco as well. Eze is a nice, little, stone village. It is easily accessible via bus from very close to the port. The one issue is layover time, dependent upon the schedules. Within the past couple of days, the bus schedule was posted. We spent several hours, walking all over Monte Carlo. I would rank it far below Nice. It has a harbor, park, casino, and palace. The palace is a 0 on a 1 to 10 scale. The harbor is interesting, if you haven't seen one. There are lots of great cars parked in front of the casino. Other than that, it is an endless stretch of high rise condos running up the hill. Oh, and we even had the advantage of seeing the bleachers and fencing for the Grand Prix.

Thanks to all! After I put my itinerary together for the French Riviera, I started thinking that this is way too much to try to see in a day. Sounds like you all agree. Thanks again.

For one day, stay in Nice. You can't see all that in one day! Or you'll spend a goodly part of your time in transportation rather than strolling around soaking in the culture, the sun,and the sea air . . . .
