Any suggestions for a main hub near the train to drop off a rental car if I am picking up in Paris/CDG headed to Normandy and back through the Loire Valley?
Many thanks! Found that there are some new "no one way one way" drop offs so I have spent hours Spinning my wheels here...all suggestions welcome.
We took the train to Tours from Paris, about one hour, and rented at the Tours station. From there it is easy driving in the Loire and you can return your rental car at the same place you picked it up and then a one hour train back to Paris. This is one way to miss the Paris traffic. Have a great time in the Loire Valley, it is beautiful.
Not user I understand, but--If your car-rental company is being sticky about returning a CDG rental to a train station in the Loire, try another rental company.
Kath - You shouldn't have any trouble with dropping off in another location in France. Tours is a good suggestion - Orleans another, depending on where in the Loire Valley you'll be going.
Have you tried Autoeurope?
Can you drop it off at Orly Airport? Then you could take a cab back into Paris. Cab ride from there is minimal.
Thanks so much. I did not know about Tours or Orleans so this will make it easier. I have the info about the new rules..Eurocar...at work and will post them during the week.
