I am interested in learning French and would like recommendations. If you have any advice, I would appreciate the help. I found the following http://www.institutdefrancais.com/ after reading an article in a magazine.
Thanks and happy travels.

There are plenty of ways to learns a language. Rosetta Stone is an expensive but VERY helpful way to learn French. There are also podcasts that you can download from iTunes called coffee break french and I use them and find them very helpful.
June, do you mean that you want to learn French in France or in Canada? Either way, google "Alliance Francaise" for info. Of course, you could always come to Quebec to learn !
You'll most likely get some direct answers to your question re language schools in France but as long as someone mentioned Rosetta Stone - your public libraries may have this or other programs on their web sites for free. I'm polishing up my French language skills with CDs (also from the library) called Pimsleur. It would probably help if you already had some knowledge of French before attending a school in France. Also, if you have an Alliance Francaise in Edmonton, they usually have language classes as will your local university. Good luck, it's a beautiful language!
A friend from the GW mentioned auclairdusud.com which I think looks like a lot of fun. I just wish we didn't already have our plans for this year.
take a look at the french guide on the about.com for more info; they also have a discussion forum where you'll probably get more readers with 1st hand knowledge
Edit: here is a link to get you started. Sometimes this forum inserts spaces, so be sure the rest of the line is continuous: http://french.about.com/od/schools/French_Language_Schools_Learn_French_French_Schools.htm
I am also thinking about a language school in France!
Have been taking French at the community college here for a couple semesters. I did not like Rosetta Stone. Would prefer to be in a classroom setting.
Thanks for your replies. I have read many positive reports about the school above; I'm seriously considering signing up.
