... inquire locally in Freiburg (Breisgau) for the right tram to take to the gondola lift up to Schauinsland and wonderful views from a terrific Black Forest mountain location. Also, inquire locally for the best transit combination to reach Colmar in France. Both of these are great day trips.
... Last time in Freiburg, we day-tripped by train to Bern. That's a good place to do some shopping...
