Frankfurt lodging

On short notice I will be going to Frankfurt to do a class. Looking for low cost, but acceptable, lodging. Also, is it easy to get around? Not sure where I will be to take the class. Thanks for the help!
Anything wonderful I should see? How long is the drive from the airport?

If you would give some dates, that would be helpful. Frankfurt is very easy to get around in, and depending on where your course will take place, you may be able to walk everywhere, as the downtown area is very walkable. The S-bahn from the airport, takes 11 minutes to the main train station in Frankfurt, and costs 3.90 €. You find this train at the Regional train station at the airport, located near Arrival Hall B-1, and they will depart from track 1. Until you know where the class is taking place, it is difficult to give you answers for close-by lodging. Otherwise, I would say Hotel Excelsior or Hotel Monopol.

You say, "drive from the airport". Why? It is a simple easy run into the Hauptbahnhof by train or S-Bahn which will take you round much of the city. An excellent network of trams and buses will get you everywhere else. Parking is no fun and expensive. My guess is you won't want (need) a car.

Thank you Jo and Nigel...all so helpful.... The class will be held here: The training will be held in Wällenweg 42, 32805 Horn - Bad Meinberg (House Yoga Vidya e.V.) with the car 3 hours from airport frankfurt, 2,5 hours from airport Köln or Düsseldorf. I do not want to rent a car this time. First time to Europe and I want to get familiar with things first. Also, I will have no time to sightsee this trip. Any sense of the best airport, or least prices for airfare?
I have located a $998 fare on airbus...US Airways....11 to 15 hours travel time, depending on flight time......uncomfortable likely... but will save $300 to $600 or more .......and lands in Frankfurt. I am told there is a train from Frankfurt to Wallenweg, taking 4 hours? I assume there are connections from airport and train. My assumption is that public trasportation is Europe is way better than we have in the US. Thanks for all the information....Candace

I think I would look into flying into Cologne or Dusseldorf, so you don't have as long of a train ride after flying 10 hours.

Candace Before I have a look at the trains, let me give you a brief class in reading German addresses. Wällenweg 42, 32805 Horn - Bad Meinberg 42 is the house number. Waellenweg is the street. 32805 is the post code - like a zip code
EDIT - Horn-Bad Meinberg is the town I'll look at train options after dinner.

By train from Frankfurt am Main Fernbahnhof its about 4 hours with a couple of changes, and 45 to 60 minutes on platforms waiting for connections. From Dusseldorf Flughafen its a bit closer - 3:07 or more with one change, although if you change at Paderborn you will have an hour's wait.

Looks a lot closer to Hannover. Check flights there. Dusseldorf would be my 2nd choice. Frankfurt is the farthest away.

Now to think about where you will sleep. I've never been to that part of Germany so can't recommend any places. The tourist office has a room search facility which is all in German but if you use Google Chrome it can translate on the fly. Good Luck....

Yup, Jo, you're right. 2:00 from Hannover Hbf. But how do you get from the airport to the Hbf?

Discovered there is Tram service from the Hannover airport direct to hbf because I arrive there on 2 May for the CEMAT Exposition so I can use my enrty ticket to travel free all the way to CEMAT with a change at hbf.
