Frankfurt in a day

Hi I have a free day in Frankfurt before I join a cosmos tour around central Europe, can anyone please advise me on sightseeing options. This will be my first trip to Europe so I am open to any suggestions!

Cheers!

This is what I recommend seeing if you only have one day:
St. Bartholomews - also known as the Kaiserdom

Holocaust Memorial Wall - surrounds the Medieval Jewish cemetery and is located next to the Judengasse museum. I like this museum too, since it has the basements from the Jewish Ghetto of 1462.

The Römerberg - the town square since the 1100's at least. Partly reconstructed, partly repaired. Visit the Emperors Hall in the Römer (city hall), the Alte Nikolai church, and go around the corner to the river and visit St. Leonhards church.

Alte Oper - one of the most beautiful Opera houses around

Eschenheimer Turm - original guard tower from 1425

The Klein Markt Halle - indoor produce market, but much more than that.

The Book Burning memorial, Haus Wertheim, the Roman bath ruins, the original Staufen Wall from 1180, the Hauptwache, the reconstrucete Thurn & Taxis Palace, Goethes' birthplace, the Paulskirche - home of Germanys 1st parliament in 1848.

If time allows, go to the Bergerstrasse in Bornheim. Wonderful cafe and street scene, open market on Wed.& Sat. lots of pubs and boutiquey stores. If you go to the end, go to Bethmann park and see the beautiful Chinese garden there.

If it is a rainy day, go to the Städel Art Institute or the Liebig Haus sculpture museum, or to the Palmengarten botanical gardens.

A trip to the top of the Main Tower is also great.
