Hi! I would greatly appreciate specific advice on Frankfurt hotels.
I will be overnighting in FRA arriving early November @ 4:00pm departing next morning at 10:00am. I have 2 questions: 1)Hotel: I would like to experience the quaint scenic side of FRA a nice hotel near airport but not spend more than $180.00 U.S. per night. 2)I will not have a car so the hotel needs to provide a shuttle service to and from airport OR if you have specific advice on cabs/trains keeping in mind my limited time. I can't emphasis my hope for specific suggestions. I'm all ears! Thank you!
Well, the problem is that quaint and airport don't go together. You can stay at the airport, at places like the Sheraton or the Hilton Gardens, if their rooms aren't too much. Hotels like the Steigenberger Airport have free shuttles. If you choose to stay in the city at a B&B, then you could either take a taxi which will cost you about 35 euro each way, depending on traffic and day of the week, or you could take the train, which is faster and cheaper. Depends on how much luggage you have, though you could also store your big bags at the airport or check them through. Trains take 11 min. and cost 4.10 euro. A train into the city, stops at track 1, at the Regional train station under terminal 1, every 15 min. Try Villa Florentina, Hotel Beethoven, Hotel Goelz, Nizza Hotel, Hotel Monopol (not a B&B, but a nice, old world style hotel, right next to the South exit of the train station)or over on the Sachsenhausen side of the river, Hotel am Berg. If you choose this one, than a taxi might be better.
Four weeks ago we stayed in the Hilton Garden Inn which is located virtually in the airport complex (The Squaire). The rate was 107 euros, nonrefundable, for a double via an online booking site (ie, not the hotel's website) so it meets your cost criteria. The hotel is convenient and easy to use, but is not "quaint." One walks or takes the airport shuttle system, not the hotel's, to the correct terminal. Have a good trip!
