Will be there with a 5 hour layover. after customs we figure we have a safe 1 to 1 1/2 hours to see something interesting in frankfurt. is downtown easy to get to- s bahn or? amount of time? to old city center? any good places in the airport to grab a handcrafted german food bite to eat? THANK YOU FOR YOUR TIME :).
The airport is 11 min. away from the main train station, or 3 stops, but if you stay on 2 more stops, you can get off in the middle of downtown. This is the Hauptwache. The Römer area is a 5 min. walk from here. Take any train that stops at track 1 in the Regional train station. This is on the lowest level of terminal 1, near arrivals B-1. A group day ticket will cost 15 euro. You will need small bills or coins. Ticket is valid for up to 5 people all day long. The machine switches to English and this ticket is called a "collective day ticket". Trains come every 15 min. Get something to eat downtown, it will be a fraction of the cost of eating at the airport. What is your travel date? We have a ton of fests and lots of farmers markets going on all summer.
Aug 28th
Rheingau Wine Festival along the Fressgasse and Alte Oper. Great food is to be had here, but the stands don't open until about 11:00. Alternative if you are here early in the morning would be a visit to the Klein Markt Halle. They open at 08:00. Just a couple minute walk from the Hauptwache.
Jo- ] Anything going on in Frankfurt the afternoon/evening of Sep 29? Thanks
