I will be in Germany in late June and the last 2 days of my trip I will be visiting Bad Kissingen and taking a cruz down the Rhine that starts in Bacharach. Do you have any suggestions on where to stay? I am thinking about Aschaffenburg or staying in Bacharach but I am open to all suggestions.

We visited Aschaffenburg in December and it is very nice but in the wrong direction from Frankfurt if you wish to cruise the Rhine. If you want a town as opposed to a village, have you considered Mainz?

Burg Stahleck above Bacharach is a great hostel in a former castle. It's very well run but often full so get a reservation.

Another place you might consider in Bacharach is Im Malerwinkel. It's in the town itself, but not as close to the train tracks as some places in Bacharach. I've never stayed there, but I've been past it twice, and it looks lovely.

I've stayed Im Malerwinkel. You pay in cash no ATM not fancy but very inexpensive it was only 56 euro a night double including breakfast if stay 2 nights. I liked it. We had a car and they had free parking.

We stayed at Pension Lettie in Bacharach.Very nice lady,helpful,good breakfast,located away from the tracks,parking nearby and inexpensive.
