Is there anyone out there who has tried the Franglish program in Paris? What was your impression of the program? This is the program where a Parisian speaks in English for 7 mins and then a person from an English speaking country speaks French for 7 mins and then you switch partners. I guess it is like speed-dating, but for those of us hoping to improve our language skills.
I've done other language exchanges, but I don't think I'd do something like that one. Seven minutes just isn't enough time to practice speaking the language and get feedback on how you're doing/receive corrections. You could just end up saying the same thing over and over again throughout the night, or have long awkward pauses where you don't know what to say. It could be ok for meeting people, but I wouldn't think it would work well for language skills. For that, you need a minimum of 30 min in each language IMO.
Could you clarify: does the "couple" converse in the one language for seven minutes followed by seven in the other language, or is each person responsible for a seven minute monologue in the target language interspersed with corrections from the native speaker?
As best I can understand, one person speaks his/her native language for seven mins. and then you switch and the other person speaks his/her native language for seven mins. I was mostly interested in hearing from people who have done the program to know if there are a variety of ages represented and if beginners to French were welcome.
