France weather in late October/early November

We were planning an April trip from Frankfurt-Colmar-Beaune-Provence-Paris, but had to cancel it dur to the volcano.

We're trying to rework our trip for late October into the first week of November, but I'm unsure of how the weather would be if we just put our prior itinerary back into service. (We always like to spend a few days in Paris, we haven't been to Alsace or Beaune areas before, and have visited both Provence and Cote d'Azur, but you can always spend more time there.)

Should we try our same itinerary, or give it up and head for the south so that we aren't too cold and feel like we get a break from Northwest weather?

Thanks for any suggestions.

Weather will be less of a factor than daylight hours. If you had a lot of rural destinations planned, you may need to scale back a little.

The weather can be very fine at that time. Or not.

Tom has it right about the light. Plan to get up & out at daybreak.
