FRANCE - Weather in AUGUST

Planning a trip following Rick Steve's 3 week itinerary by car in France. We normally travel in the Fall but have to take our trip earlier this year. I am nervous about going in mid August. I can't seem to find weather information or history for DAYS, just 24 hr. period averages. I don't care too much about the nights, but am concerned about uncomfortable heat or humidity during the day.
Any information anyone can provide to put me at ease will be helpful. I have got to get our reservations and plans finalized. Thanks in advance! Yolanda from California

Yolanda, It does get hot. Make sure you plan wisely and keep plenty of water on you. It's wise to get a hotel with air conditioning. Other than that, don't worry too much about it!

It does get hot. It does get cold. I usually go in summer, so about 5-6 years ago when I took a friend who had never been to Paris I told her to pack "sundresses, capris , cool clothing" .. Guess what , 7 out of 9 days we were wearing our one pair of slacks, and one long sleeved shirt and one long sleeved jacket... We had to go shopping for more warm clothes.. it rained off and on too, for about 7 of the days. The last two days were just nice and normal( about 75). I have since been back a few times in August, and still encountered hot, but just as often have encountered "decent" weather, about 75 . And usually some rain, though lighter then the year I hit that cold snap. Its not Rome, now that is a nightmare , basically go to Rome in july or august ( and I have twice, lol ) prepare to roast.
