I would like to travel to Paris, Alsace, including Strasbourg and Colmer, and would also like to incorporate Brugge. I was thinking of flying in to Brussels, train to Brugge, pick up car in Lille ( to avoid returning car in a different country), driving to Alsace, and dropping car in Paris, staying there for a few days, and flying home from there. I think about 10-14 days, I am flexible. My husband and I have driven in France before, so that is no problem. Does this make sense or can anyone figure out a better plan? Thanks.
Last summer we spent a week in Brugge - it was nice but I wouldn't recommend more than 2 nights there. Definitely a place to see but we used it as more of a base to visit other places. The train from Brugge to Brussels is very easy and fast, we actually took the train from Paris to Brugge (via Brussels) on the way there and it was very fast, easy, and nice.
I don't have a better plan, but I do love train travel in Europe so I am always biased! Have fun!
I would take the train to Brugge, spend your time there, then take the train to Colmar. See Colmar, and then rent a car to visit the villages on the wine route. End up in Strasbourg for sightseeing there and drop your car off. Take the TGV to Paris for the remainder of your trip.
