I am planning a trip to France in late November for ten days. We will be going back to Paris of course but where else should we go?
We can give better answers if you tell us where you've been previously in France: just Paris, or have you been other places in France on prior trips?
Good point. In addtion, visited Normandy and the Loire valley.
South and low will get you marginally warmer and drier. With ten days, six or so down in the prehistoric area and bastide towns makes a good split with a couple or three days in Paris. There's a couple of interesting stops along the way to break up a six-hour drive. The weather might catch you. Either last November or the one before, I was still driving in snow until a bit south of Limoges. Provence might be an option, but I've no experience there that time of year.
Big place, France. As many climates and much more variety as the entire lower 48. What sort of thing do you want. Be prepared for bad weather and long nights, short days.
You may want to head south to avoid the gray northern skies. Cities will be more lively, as many places in the countryside tend to close off-season. You could head toward Provence or the Riviera.
If you'll be in Paris after November 25th, don't forget to check out "les fetes" (also called "les Illuminations") along the Champs Elysees. Gorgeous! Fun! Mulled wine! Food! Cute kids and Christmas trees! Great place to buy gifts! http://www.brundevie.com/paris-75/idee-sortie-fete-locale-foire-et-marche/illumination-de-paris-champs-elysees.html Others have plumped for heading south, because of the weather. You could do worse than heading for Aix-en-Provence. On the other hand, in the north, late November is becoming holiday season. I'd go to Strasbourg. Winter is a gorgeous part of life!
