France-Giverny

Hello! My mom and I are planning a trip around Europe this summer and we'd like to stay in the Giverny area of France for a few nights. I don't have access to a RS guide at the moment, as I'm living overseas in a town without a lot of access to English reading material. Any suggestions on nice places to stay to soak in the culture? Places less than 100 USD a night are preferred. Neither of us are into the party scene either, so something small and quieter would be just lovely. Thanks for any thoughts-we're both super excited about our trip! My mom hasn't been in Europe for 30 years and can't believe she's going back!

Hi Linnae - The Giverny area is one of my favorite parts of France. I haven't stayed overnight there yet but want to someday. Rick's France book shows the Hotel la Musardiere. I did an internet search on Giverny, and got a list of several B&Bs too. I highly recommend the duck omelet at the Hotel Baudy. It's divine.

Last July my wife and I stayed at Hotel la Musardiere right next to Monet's house and garden. Very nice. Restaurant with patio and car park on site. Ambiance: lively during the day. Quiet and peaceful in the evening.

My husband and I stayed at Hotel Musardiere this past September. Well located, lovely owner. You are a 5 minute walk from the back gate to Monet's home and garden. This makes it possible to start as soon as the gardens open and avoid the bus entrance. Would recommend you go directly to his home and then do the gardens to avoid some of the crowds. When you come out look for the truck selling ice cream- the apple can't be beat.
