France During Winter

Hello,

I am planning on going to France in Mid-late February and am having planning trouble. I would like to fly into the South(Nice or Marseilles), spend 5-7 days heading North to Paris, 3-4 days in Paris and then fly to Venice to spend 3 days(Carnivale!).

My question is...what regions/cities/towns should I visit before going to Paris. As it is winter what areas have the most to offer in terms of food, wine & culture??

Any advice & suggestions would be appreciated!

One of several possible itineraries would be:Fly into Marseilles-Provence airport (Nice is too far east)Use trains to explore the main cities and towns in Provence that are connected to each other by rail, including (starting in the south) Marseilles, Aix-en-Provence, Arles, Nimes, Avignon, and Orange. These cities will be open for touristing, but this time of year the country destinations that you'd have to drive or bus to will tend to be closed down for the winter. If you wanted to go to Pont du Gard, you could take a day tour from Avignon. Then head north to Paris to continue your trip.
