We are planning 2 wks in France. Plan to go to Chamonix first ,~3 days , Provence to stay in Arles,3 days, then to Paris for remainder to see Paris, and day trips to Mont St. Michele and St Malo, and Loire Valley. Any information on Hotel l'Aiguille du Midi- is this easy to get to Chamonix for hiking ,etc. Any feedback on hotel. Also, in Aires: Hotel du Musee, any feedback. Thank you.

Can't comment on the hotel you are interested in for Chamonix but we stayed at Hotel Aarve and found the location to be perfect. Our room had a large balconey overlooking the Aarve River. Everything was within walking distance including the train station. A perfect hike is along the river. And the view of Mont Blanc was just great from our balconey.
I am not familiar with the hotel, but the location at Les Bossons looks to be a 15 minute or so walk from the center. We stayed in Les Praz which was a bit further away in the other direction and really liked it. It was pleasant to walk in to Chamonix along the river, but nice to be out of the city traffic for our lodging. Chamonix is a hikers' paradise. We hiked both Balcon hikes ( Nord and Sud) and Lac Blanc, plus some shorter ones. If you only have time for one, Grand Balcon Sud was our favorite. Studding views and interesting terrain. The Nord Balcon takes you to the Mer de Glace if you want to see that, but the walk is more in the trees. Be sure to hike up to Chalet Floria for lunch one day. You can see it from town, perched on the mountainside. The trail goes right through the terrace, which is gorgeous with hundreds of flowering plants in flower bed and hanging baskets. We watched the little hummingbird hawk moths visiting the flowers as we enjoyed our lunch.
Thank you, We have booked at Hotell Aarve. Looks wonderful, and thanks for the feedback on hiking. Can't wait.
Does anyone think the rest of the trip is too ambitious?
