Hi Bob, There are great beaches on the Atlantic at Hossegor, and the beaches are beautiful and not crowded. There are lots of hotels and self-catering rentals in the area. This area is low-key; no night-life etc. Charlie, Lodi, CA

Depending on what you want from a Beach. It also depends on your age, and what kind of scene you are looking for.

Personally I like the Brittany Beaches,(Finistere area) in June it will be warm enough to swim, and Brittany is still not too crowded yet. Though it is getting worse. Not to mention the region is lovely.

Gites, is what I always reccomend for the self catering holiday out of the city. One thing thought, reserve early, as they fill up fast.
