Has anyone ever stayed here? It looks great on the franceby.com site. Very restrictive conditions, though. Check-in time between 2-3 pm, 100% penalty for cancelling within 31 days of trip. Am I crazy to consider this? Thanks.

I've found that many of the rental agencies and even B@B's are as concerned about the economy as we all are and don't want to budge on their policies. I've found that writing an email stateing what you want and guaranteeing with a credit card and a promise to give notice in case of cancellation makes them feel more secure. Do not agree to anything that makes you uncomfortable. There are many excellent lodgings all vieing for your dollar (Euro). If you can establish a dialogue with them, get them to recognize your honesty and concern for the reservation and they still want to do business, it's a win-win situation for both of you. If you do not ask, you do not get. Good Luck!
PS I've just reserved 45 days of Fall travel this way, and have learned there are some really great hosts out there.
