Tmr is our last full day in Paris and we are thinking of a day trip to charges or fountainbleu. Any recommendations? Or other nearby sights for a 6 hour day trip? Not interested in dealing with crowds at Versailles.Leave Monday for a week in Avignon area. Weather in Paris has been superb.

I'm guessing you mean Chartres, not charges? They would both make good day trips. If you want to see a cathedral with some beautiful stained glass windows, do Chartres. If you want to see a great looking palace with pretty lawns and fountains, do Fontainebleu. The good weather would probably favor the latter.

Sue, I will also assume that you mean Chartres. The cathedral is magnificent. But, the town is also beautiful. A stroll through the commercial area and down to the residential area by the canal is well worth the time.
