Foray through Spain

We will be in Spain this June, focusing on the Girona area, then the white hill towns near Sevilla. We'd like wisdom on how much time to allot the different areas, and experience on a place to stay in and around Girona, then Ronda/Arcos. Also recommendations for whether rail passage between Barcelona to Granada/ Toledo is practical, then renting another car there, or if we should just keep the car for the whole trip? Oh, yeah, and is Granada worth staying in for a night, too? Sorry for all the doubt, but your experience is sought.

Barcelona to Toledo is very easy by train, and cost-effective if you buy tickets in advance on the web. Barcelona to madrid is 2.5 hours on the AVE, then you need to allow 15 to 30 minutes to change to the train for Toledo, which takes only about 30 minutes. To go on to Granada by train, you would have to return to Madrid and take the slower (not AVE) train. Or you could take the AVE to Sevilla and pick up your car there to visit Granada and the white towns. We thought Granada was worth 3 nights, as we were fascinated by the Alhambra.

We're arriving in Barcelona & then taking a direct flight to Granada. It's about 60 euros/person with 1 luggage but it's only 1hr 25 min, plus taxi/bus to airport. We thought the cost & time trade-off with train or bus wasn't worth it. Veuling, Iberia (codeshare), and Ryanair offer fairs for this trip.
