My sister and her boyfriend would like to visit Paris and maybe some other parts of France. They're interested in a food tour because they'd like to go to markets, good restaurants with different kinds of French cuisine, etc. Does such a thing even exist? She did some research online (i.e. she Googled "France food tours") and didn't find much of anything. Any advice would be appreciated!
Thanks so much! I'll tell my sister about this.
I've taken the market walk offered by Le Cordon Bleu; a chef accompanied us to the market and explained some of the market traditions, talked about the various products, etc. It was definitely an interesting experience. Additionally, I took two cooking classes last fall from Cook'n with Class (www.cooknwithclass.com). They offer a morning cooking class that includes a trip to the market. While I did not take their market class, I really enjoyed the classes that I took through them.
Paris Walks occasionally offers walks with a food theme. Their site is wwww.paris-walks.com. I've taken a number of walks with them (although no food walks) and they have always been quite good.
Context Travel also has some food walks. They had a couple that looked quite interesting to me, but unfortunately they were not offered on my dates of travel so I cannot comment on quality of their tours.
Finally, the best "foodie" website that I have found on Paris is the blog written by David Lebovitz. He is an American foodwriter who lives in Paris and he has many excellent foodie tips.
Thanks, Laura! What good ideas!
