Need info on a good place to eat crepes, french onion soup and good escargot. Hotel is in 8e at Place St. Augustine.
Bonnie, one thing about the post here is we all have different taste and opinions. While you may get a great review to go to "cafe A", you may find it disgusting.
I think the best way to go is to read the menu, poke inside and if there's a lot of (non English) speakers, get a table. Also if the menu is in English, chances are its a tourist trap
Best crepes are at a street window on the corner across the bridge from Notre Dame and kitty corner to St Chapelle, there is an awning that says " Berthillions"( the best ice cream in Paris, try it) and they make the crepes fresh in front of you ( I don't like it when they make the crepe ahead of time and just take it out of a warmer) . The ham cheese and fresh tomatoe is to die for,, can't wait to get one again this July. I buy crepes from any street cart too, but I always make sure they are fresh pouring them .

Hi Bonnie,
... assuming you have a general interest in Parisian food, you may want to click on the EATING icon in the above web site. A wide range of eateries is discussed... and if you have questions you would like to ask Tom, click on CONTACT ME to send him email...
bon appétit! ... P
As mentioned before, everyone has different tastes and you can spend a lot on food in Paris.
I would stick with the RS 2008 Paris Guide and you'll have a much better dining experience.
The square around the Stravinsky fountain (a must-see for me!) has a great crepe place. You can sit outside, eat great crepes, watch the fountain with the Pompideau center as a backdrop. Street vendors are also a favorite.
French soup at Pied du Conchon (sp?) is always great and is in Rick's book.
Throw a rock... unlike fish and chips, which are becoming more rare in London, you can find these anywhere.
