Food availability on Christmas eve in Paris

I arrive in Paris on Christmas Eve with 8 adults and 3 small children. We have an apartment rented across the street from Park Monceau. Will there be stores still open to be food for Christmas Dinner? Do you know any place in the area where I can order food online? Do you know any good restaurants in the area? Thank you for your help.

Linda There is a thread back a week or so which gives ideas for Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. The advice from Parisians seems to be that Christmas Eve is the evening when they spend time with their families and very few restaurants are open. It seems that most everything is closed by mid afternoon on Christmas Eve. I can't imagine any food stores will be open later or at all on Christmas Day. There is a market nearby (northwest of Parc Monceau) which had cooked chickens and other really good prepared foods. The market was an extension of the shops on the street. Here are some ideas for both days: Contact your apartment rental person or agency and ask what ideas they have. Eat Chinese. These will be open both days. Carry out? Eat at a hotel. The problem with this is that hotels which have restaurants tend to be high end properties with expensive restaurants. And not appropriate for small children getting over jet lag unless they are sleeping in their strollers! Make a reservation now.
There are a few "American" owned and themed restaurants. Google them and then email to see if they have suggestions or could deliver to you on Christmas Eve. Those are the only ideas I remember. Check the previous thread. Good luck! Bobbie

I, myself, was a person that asked about this back in 2008 when I lived in France. You will find that most family restaurants will be closed for the Christmas holiday as wel as many stores. There are some (EXCELLENT) chain restaurants that are open and ready to serve you. I, myself, love the restaurant CHEZ CLEMENT (www.chezclement.com). There are MANY, MANY Chez Clements in Paris and the food is DELICIOUS. I'm usually all about independant resaurants, but also trying a French chain restaurant can be good insight into a culture that values food. It's a nicer style of restaurant, too. Perfect for holidays. (You can make reservations online) If you like seafood LEON DE BRUXELLES has excellent moules-frites. (http://www.leon-de-bruxelles.fr/). This isn't as "classy" of a restaurant as the one above, but it is delicious. I ate here Christmas Eve night and Chez Clement on Christmas day in the Bastille area. It was lovely. I took a tour of the Marais (took a Paris-Walks trip). -----Several sites are closed, but some remain open. Many Marais places are open (the Jewish quarter), the Pompidou centre is usually open on Christmas (do double check) I had a great Christmas in Paris. I was all alone, but in Paris you're surrounded by the best.

Very interested in the comment that Chez Clement is a chain, with other Paris locations. Have eaten in the one near Place St. Michel. Looked on line and could find no evidence of others. Could you please advise where others are located?

There's quite a number of them. I've eaten at the Opéra location as well as the Bastille location and both experiences were fantastic. They are also located: Champs-Élysées Maillot Montparnasse Porte de Versailles Saint Michel
Wagram and also a few in some other cities.
