Greetings Planning to tour Portugal and Spain in May 14. We'd like to do a few days in Morocco. From reading other posts on this board, we are convinced the ferry ride from Spain to Tangiers is not our thing, and Marrakesh and Fez sound more appealing than Tangiers. Thus, looking for any advice on the following: 1) what citiy to fly from in POR/ESP assuming destination is either Marrakesh or Fez; 2) opinions on these two cities presuming we are looking to visit only one of them and only for a couple of days before we return to POR/ESP. Thank you! RL
Leave from whichever departure point has the best deal. If you're using public transportation, leave from one and return to the other since, except between the national capitals, trains and buses Aer pretty cumbersome. The first-timer probably wouldn't notice the difference between the two Moroccan cities in a couple of days but Marrakech would probably have a slight edge.
To find which airports have service to which other airports, you can start with the Wikipedia entry for an airport. Of course, you then have to confirm. Many routes are not daily, and many are seasonal. To find specific flights between city pairs (for instance, from Lisbon to Fez), use Skyscanner: http://www.skyscanner.com/. And be careful: the most common use of 3 letter, all-capitals abbreviations is to designate airports, not countries. "ESP" and "POR" are not standard abbreviations for Spain and Portugal.
