flying Swiss air

We are looking for a flight to Zurich. The best price and times appear to be through Swiss Air. However, no seat selection is available. Does anyone have experience with Swiss Air that can tell me how to have a seat assigned? I do not like to pay flight without knowing that we actually have a seat. Thank you

Hello Mary,
i have flown Swiss Air several times. After making oin line reservations, I called for seat assignments. It seems a strange way to do it .... but they did not seem to offer an alternative that I could find.

Same experience. I bought our tickets online, called the customer service number and they assigned our seats!

Wow ! I'm dumb, I booked for last Sept. and waited until I checked in on-line to get my seats. A little hijack here - Is there a way to book an open jaw ticket from the website?

I flew with Swiss about a year ago...same thing. I will mention that my seat assignments changed more than once with no notification (all airlines can/will do it). When checking in online before our flight, I again noticed that they changed, but I changed them back to something nearly as good as what we had selected initially, so no problem. The flights home were fine...no changes. BTW, Swiss is my new favorite airline. The service is top drawer, many of their A330 aircraft are brand new, and Zurich is a super efficient, small, and clean airport to connect through. You should really enjoy that part of the trip. Happy travels! Just keep an eye on your assignments, and change them online if necessary. Wayne: The answer is no, which is weird b/c their parent (Lufthansa) allows multi-city booking online. I asked them about it, and they said you need to call. The good news is that they said they won't charge the extra fee (think it was $20) to book through an agent when configuring an open-jaw itinerary over the phone. The fare is the same as the online offer.

Swiss is my new favorite airlines, also! I had to make a quick spur-of-the-moment trip to The Netherlands to pick up an 8 week old puppy. They had the lowest fare. I had to phone my reservation, because I had to reserve a special seat because of the puppy in the cabin. But service is wonderful, and all the chocolate treats onboard would be enough for me. ;) There was a snowstorm in Zurich that delayed the landing of my connection flight on the way home to Chicago. I think we were about an hour late, but they held the long-haul flight until everybody was accounted for. I hope I can fly them again this summer when I go back.
