flying out of Frankfurt- where to stay

I've found a great B and B in Bacharach that can fit the 5 of us. We fly out of Frankfurt on Wednesday at 10:55. I'm having trouble finding a place for us to stay in Frankfurt. We won't have a car and will just use trains. If I am looking correctly, then there is a train at 6:55 in Bacharach to frankfurt with one connection that arrives at 7:59. I put in Frankfurt (M) as the station. I wasn't sure if that was correct to go straight to the airport. Is that correct? That seems like it would be ok, or is that cutting it too close?? If so, where is a good place to stay with 5 in Frankfurt. Christine

No matter what you start with, Frankfurt(M) Flughafen, Fernbahnhof or Regional Bahnhof, should come up as your destination. If it says Frankfurt(M) Hbf, that's the main staion in town, beyond the airport and not the place you want to go to unless you're planning to stay there for the night.

Using the Deutsche bahn site, for Wed. 29 Dec. there is a direct train from Bacharach to the Frankfurt airport at 06:55, arriving at 08:06. The one you mention that arrives at 07:59, has a change and is using an ICE and also is arriving at the Long distance train station at the airport, and not the Regional train station. You will have farther to walk with this one. Arrival at the Regional train station means just 2 escalator ride up to departure. If you think you should get there earlier, there is a train at 06:30 that has one change, but arrives at the Regional train station at 07:34. The change is in Bingen and you have 5 min. to do it.

The 6:55 train from Bacharach is an RE (Regional Express) that stops in Mainz where you would change to the ICE that gets to the Fernbahnhof at 7:59. However, if you stay on the RE, it gets to the airport Regionalbahnhof 7 min later, at 8:06. The Fernbahnhof is farther out from the terminals than the Regionalbahnhof. It will brobably take you 7 min longer anyway. Just stay on the RE all the way. That gives you almost 3 hours which is earlier than I usually get to FRA. You didn't indicate the age of the children in your family. Full fare for the RE/ICE connection is €18,50 per adult (children under 15 would be free). Full fare for the RE all the way to the airport is €10,50 per adult (15 and up), €6,30 for children under 15 (under 6 are free). There is also an RMV Gruppentageskarte for 5 people from Bacharach to the airport via regional trains for €30,80. I'm just not sure if the automat at Bacharach sells it; but it should.

At RMV.de, selekt "RMV-TicketShop" under "tickets", then change the language to English with the British flag. - If you are having trouble finding a place to stay the night before, consider Hotel Königshof, in Mainz. Mainz is on the way to the airport from Bacharach. Königshof is right across the Bahnhofsplatz from the main station in Mainz. I don't know what Königshof has for 5 people, but they have a quad, so maybe they could add a rollaway. The S-Bahn leaves Mainz every half hour (2 and 32 past) and takes 27 min. From Bacharach, a Rheinland-Pfalz-Ticket for €33 will cover all five of you to Mainz. The fare the next morning to the airport is €3,90 per adult, €2,35 for a child 6-14. A Gruppentageskarte for all five of you, Mainz to FRA, would be €14,70.
