Fly Rail Baggage - Switzerland

I just heard about the "Fly Rail Baggage" service in Switzerland. From any airport in the world, you can send baggage to the Zurich or Geneva train station. Has anyone used this? I will be traveling with a dance group to Switzerland in June. My costumes require another suitcase that I normally do not use. I will be spending some time in Ireland before going to Switserland and would like to send my costumes directly to Swtzerland rather than lugging them around in Ireland. Any other ideas on how to do this?

Hi Deb,
Better to call your airline and make sure they will put your bag on the train. I found out that Lufthansa will NOT do this, after I bought the service.

The service has nothing to do with the airlines. What you do is attach special tags that you purchase ahead of time from Rail Europe (http://tinyurl.com/3c6lyw) or your travel agent, and attach it to your luggage. When your flight arrives at Zurich or Geneva, the bag will be intercepted by airport personel and sent to the train station for delivery to your final destination. The arilines have no direct involvment in it, thus you can use this service with Lufthansa or any other airline. But I don't think this will work in your situation because you have to be on the same flight as your luggage for security reasons.

If you have your hotel already reserved why not try emailing them to inquire of the possibility of mailing your costumes to them? I have mailed things home from Suisse in order not to carry "extras" on the plane. Good luck. gna
